THE HISTORY AND EVOLUTION AND FILM
Movies were not invented by one person, but in 1891, Edison's Kinetoscope allowed individuals to view moving pictures. Early films were short, shown at various places, and accompanied by lectures and music. By 1914, national film industries emerged, with Europe initially dominating. The First World War shifted industry focus to America. Cinema's first 30 years saw industrial growth, narrative development, and technological advances. Color was added, and sound, introduced in the 1930s, marked Hollywood's 'Golden Age.'
